Our History

Over it’s 160+ year history, the Terang Cemetery has grown and changed along side the town. The expansion of the Monumental Cemetery, development of the Lawn Cemetery and memorial options came out of the tireless work of the trust and its volunteers.

The Trust

The Terang Cemetery Trust is a not for profit trust that is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Terang Public Cemetery. Our trust is made from local volunteers who  are appointed for a five-year term.

Our Trust relies heavily on local community involvement, if you are interested in joining the trust or offering some support – please contact us.

Remembrance

The Cemetery Trust has planted a lone pine to remember those who served and lost their lives in the Great War. The plaque reads:

This Lone Pine has been planted to commemorate the centenary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli on 25th April 1915.

This memorial remembers those whose graves remain unmarked. The plaque reads:

This memorial has been created in memory of former Terang and District souls whose anonymous remains lie in unmarked graves within this calm and quiet place. Recognition of this has been registered here as an expression of respect and inclusion. May they all rest in peace.
