Public Cemetery

The main burial portion of the cemetery has both Monumental and Lawn plots available. These plots look over the township and are said to have the best view of Terang.

Lowering of coffins in the above areas.

It is the right of the Next of Kin who are organising a funeral that, they should indicate to the funeral director which method they would prefer to use, lowering machine or straps.

It is the Cemetery Trust’s preferred method that, because of the need to protect the welfare of people close to the grave, where possible coffins should be lowered by a lowering machine rather than by straps.

Rose Garden

Newly created in 2020, our Rose Garden is the perfect way to remember your loved one. Located amongst the lawn plots, the roses bring a pop of colour to the hillside.

Niche Wall

Located near the entrance, our Niche Wall is a more traditional way to remember those who have been cremated.

The Committee

The Terang Cemetery Trust is a not for profit trust that is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Terang Public Cemetery. Our committee of local volunteers tirelessly maintain the graves and grounds to ensure that the souls can rest easy. Since its establishment in 1859, the Terang Public Cemetery has grown to embody 4 memorial sections; The Monumental, The Lawn, The Niche Wall and The Rose Garden. Visitors to the Cemetery please be aware that the Cemetery has NO PUBLIC TOILETS available.

The Perfect Surrounding

The 160+ year -old Cemetery over looks the township of Terang and its dry lake. From both the Monumental and Lawn Cemeteries, you can see the town, its churches and, on a clear day, Mount Noorat.
